Our Approach Our approach to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE) field testing brings together our corporate expertise in the science of CBRNE threat materials, environmental sampling/analysis, statistics, experimental design, hardware design and fabrication, and quality assurance. We understand that field tests are controlled or uncontrolled experiments that are played out on a larger, more realistic scale than laboratory testing. Accordingly, a successful field test should have proper experimental design and deliver statistically significant results that address the basic objectives of the test.
Other aspects of field testing in which we excel are planning and logistics. We apply a disciplined approach that includes significant pre-test coordination of all parties, test readiness reviews (TRRs), and pilot tests. We coordinate closely with the host sites to ensure that environmental regulations and health and safety are highest priorities.
Our Staff We have a dedicated field test team that is experienced in conducting tests at a variety of locations throughout the U.S. The team consists of chemists, microbiologists, statisticians, and technical support personnel. We have over 40 scientific personnel that regularly augment our dedicated team. Specialized Equipment/Facilities We maintain a variety of field-deployable chemical samplers, meteorological measurements towers, and field-portable analytical equipment for use on field programs. In addition, we can design and construct a variety of specialized samplers and field test equipment. Our Austin-based laboratories are capable of analyzing most field-collected samples. Our advanced chemical laboratory is equipped with GC/MS, LC/MS, and atmospheric pressure mass spectrometers. Our microbiological and molecular biological laboratory is capable of classic microbiological, immunological assay techniques, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
Signature Science has its own field test range located outside of Austin. Through our Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®) relationship, we have access to larger 1000+ acre facilities in the San Antonio area. We also have close working relationships with the Nevada Test Site and Dugway Proving Grounds as well as other government test sites.
Current and Past Experience Customer Listing Signature Science has recent and ongoing experience conducting field test programs for the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and related agencies. We have conducted these tests at government test sites, proving grounds, military installations, and privately-owned ranges.
